Bachelor buttons (Centaurea cyanus) are easy to grow, drought tolerant flowers also known as cornflowers. This particular variety is a deep purple maroon and makes a striking addition to bouquets or can be eaten in salads or on desserts. When planted out in the spring, bachelor buttons will bloom through late spring until early summer, and sometimes even until September if the old flowers are removed. If old blooms are left in the garden, they will naturalize and grow for you again the following year. Plants reach two to three feet in height.
70-90 days to flower. Annual.
