Chinese Giant Orange Amaranth

Chinese Giant Orange Amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus) is an excellent amaranth strain to grow for food. Yellow-green young foliage eventually form thick stalks and dense plumes of dark orange flowers that eventually give way to heavy yields of tan orange seeds. Given the right fertility conditions, these plants can really get tall; over eight feet during our seed production. High yields make this an ideal grain amaranth, but the young foliage can also be cooked and eaten like spinach.

Amaranth is an annual plant that can be started in late spring and needs approximately 100 days to seed.
